THIS IS THE BLEND
Our espresso owes its distinctively full-bodied flavour to our founder, Gerry Ford, who left no stone unturned in his attempt to create the coffee he wanted nearly 20 years ago. In the company of an Italian coffee artisan, they tasted and experimented with different beans and flavours, eventually achieving the results they sought with a blend of up to seven types of coffee from around the world – predominantly Central and South America.
The resulting espresso owes its complexity to the dominant dark notes of toasted bread and intense dark chocolate, complemented by a subtle but evident caramel sweetness. A sprinkling of chocolate powder encourages the blend to surrender even more of its natural aromas, while adding milk makes it silkily smooth.
The recipe that provides this rich brew is known by only a handful of people within our family-run company. We always are delighted when our espresso routinely wins awards for its flavour. Born from one man’s obsessive vision, our espresso tastes just the way we – and, it seems, lots of others – like it.
